What Sailing Has Taught Me About Leadership
Yes, you must have heard the saying “too many cooks spoil the broth” or “too many captains sink the ship”.
But on Ximula Sail’s yachts, Minqi and her team strongly believe that everyone is a leader in their own role, who inspires, nurtures and takes pride in what he/she does.
And it is with this conviction that Minqi feels her team have been able to navigate through many changes in our business landscape over the past 12 years.
In this session, Minqi will share about the leadership lessons she has learned from sailing and building her business:
Minqi feels very blessed to have a team whom she can count on like family, and who lives and breathes our values as a happy sailor in our everyday life. She hopes that her lessons can be a source of inspiration or insight for everyone, because you can be a happy sailor too.
Minqi is the founder of Ximula Sail, a small yacht charter company born out of her father’s retirement dream to sail around the world.
When her father finally embarked on his dream, Minqi couldn’t say no to joining his sailing adventures to beautiful islands all over Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
She eventually fell in love with the boat life and has never looked back since. In 2014, she founded Ximula Sail with her father as skipper and herself as crew, to share their love for sailing with friends and friends of friends as their first charter guests!
After 12 years of steering this ship through through highs and lows, she has witnessed her team grow from strength to strength, and endure through various seasons of the industry.
Today, despite their recent downsizing, Ximula Sail remains a well established brand known for their warm hospitality and passion for sailing, as we continue to stay rooted to their core in inspiring a happy sailor through everyone
